Today's Weather Outlook....May 5, 2014.

Rain chances will generally be found in two corners of the

 U.S. Monday - the Northwest and the Northeast.

Elsewhere, the heat will continue to bake parts of the Plains and South.

Rain and scattered showers will be the main weather issue from Seattle southward to Northern California, and eastward to Montana for the start the workweek.

The highest mountain elevations will once again see some wintry weather while everyone else has wet and mainly mild conditions. 

Highs will generally hit the 50s and 60s across the region with 30s and 40s in the mountains.

The Great Lakes and Northeastern U.S. will also be dodging the drops today, as scattered showers fall from the eastern Dakotas through the Ohio Valley.

Parts of the Mid-Atlantic and New England will also see a few chances for showers. Temperature-wise, it will be generally mild as highs hit the 60s in most locations. Some other places may rise only to the 50s, while others enjoy highs in the 70s.

Elsewhere, a large swath of the country will stay warm and dry.

Mostly sunny skies will cover much of the Southern Tier from Phoenix to Atlanta, and southward to Miami. 

Some morning fog and drizzle may keep things a little dreary in southern California however, but sunshine will return by afternoon.

The toastiest locales will be found in the Southwest, as highs hit the 100s.

A large area of 90-degree heat will cover the Plains from Dallas and Ft. Worth to Wichita, Kan., while Denver, St. Louis, and New Orleans bask in the 80s.
