Tuesday's Weather Outlook....... May 6, 2014

The weather pattern heading through Tuesday will be indicative of a summertime one in the Plains. Meanwhile, storms and showers will blossom around the heat ridge from the Great Basin to the Midwest.
There will be no shortage of heat in the Central and Southern Plains again Tuesday.
Oklahoma City will bust through the record books with highs around the century mark while 90s bake places like Dallas and Topeka, Kan. Hot 90s will also be common along the Rio Grande Valley.
Surrounding this zone will be a bubble of 80s from the far Southern Plains to the Deep South into the Carolinas.
The contrast between the heat and much cooler 50s and 60s in the Rockies, Northern Plains, Great Lakes and northern Mid-Atlantic will set the battleground for showers and thunderstorms.
The stormy zone will arc from the Sierra to Interstate 94 in the Dakotas and southeast through the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley. The air will even be cold enough for a bit of light snow accumulation in the high Sierra and Teton peaks.
Both coasts will be rain-free, with the exception of the Northwest Coast and New England`s northern fringe. Meanwhile, the southerly breeze will kick up a notch during the day across the hot Plains.
